working
Thank you so much for your sweet comments on my Greytone Rosie. I know my fit problem comments were being picky, however I think they are important to point out. There are picky knitters out there. I am still working out the kinks in my commenting system, so I could not reply to everyone personally. However, I believe its all fixed now.

A few things I've enjoyed in the past week:

My new sewing machine, which is an amazing improvement from my 20 year old Kenmore.
Hello automatic buttonholes!
Hello automatic needle threader!
Hello overlock and serger stitches!

An evening walk on the beach with my honey.
It sounds strange from someone living in California, but it feels like summer all of the sudden!

Trying out new tricks in the kitchen. I've been baking from book with great success.
I suggest you try it too!
.....and processing my first sample of my Ph.D! It is big news and it makes all those months (years?) of method development work feel worthwhile.
Crafty tidbits I've been enjoying this week:
:: an interesting discussion about copying versus inspiration.
:: a new tutorial series on clothes sewing.
:: this wonderfully inspiring book. I'm currently doing some test swatches, for the skirt. more on that later.
:: the monster list of sewing blogs.
What have you been enjoying this week?

Yum!! I've got that book but haven't had a chance to use it yet... I'll definitely do so when I get back.
Congrats on the new sewing machine. I love the automatic buttonhole feature! And your cinnamon buns look so good - I finally made bread from that book on Sunday and loved it.
Congrats on getting ahead with your PH.D and on the new toy! I wish my machine had an automatic buttonhole feature, as a neat freak, I'm never quite happy with mine and always think about ways how to get around buttons. But before I get a new machine, I want to get a serger (though I'm curious about the serger feature on your machine, maybe sometime you could post a sample?) I looked at that Alabama Stitch book just yesterday at the bookstore. Very inspiring! I've also been thinking about getting the new Lotta Jansdotter book, Lotta prints. I want to make my own prints on fabric, this will be my summer project.
Look at the fun you've been up to! Let's have lunch one of these days, shall we?
